Professor Zhang Junyi from our school attended the 16th World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR), which was held in Montreal, Canada from July 16-21, 2023. He served as co-chair of the COVID-19 Task Force of the WCTR Society and hosted two special sessions on COVID-19. Experts from around the world presented their reports and participated in discussions. Tae Hoon Oum, the current President of the WCTRS and a professor at UBC, delivered a welcome speech at the special session and highly praised the achievements of the Task Force.
At the special session of the conference, Associate Professor Fu Xiao from the Department of Transportation Engineering of our university gave a presentation titled Data-driven methodologies for post-pandemic transportation research and made guiding remarks during the discussion session. Her research achievements based on the space-time prism transportation system were highly praised by the experts in attendance. Drawing from over three years of joint research experience worldwide, Professor Zhang Junyi proposed the establishment of Urbanimmunology and a Transport in All Policies methodology during the concluding remarks of the special session. These recommendations provide innovative development suggestions for global transportation and society in the post-pandemic era.
