Designed by the Artistic Bridge Research Center at SEU, the Ice-Rings Bridge in Zhangjiakou Zone of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games is not only the main construction project of the event but also the presentation of exquisite technique of the stakeholders.
The bridge rides across a long and narrow valley with a winding river below, one end connecting a tunnel, as if two elegant rainbows flying from the hills. With sophisticated design, two curved spans scheme with piers staggered arranged prevails after detailed evaluation on construction feasibility and structure balance. While the bridge locates at the entrance to Zhangjiakou Zone, it not only serves as a focal passage way, but also a principal signature of winter sports in Northern China.Completed within 30 months using modern design and advanced construction techniques, the bridge has become a magnificent symbol for Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
The design and construction of the bridge lead by professor Ding Jianming and Cao Fei from Artistic Bridge Research Center at SEU remained a huge challenge when the project started because both form and fuction of the bridge are required and special significance is needed. So the design team made great efforts in combining Olympic theme, ice and snow element and Chinese culture, creating a unique Ice-Rings Bridge. Cutting-edge techniques is used in the project including 3D BIM method, dynamic parameterization, VR and etc.
As the Winter Olympic Village shows its tech and culture highlights, the 24th Beijing Winter Olympic Games will certainly be an unforgettable experience in the Olympic history. And Ice-Rings Bridge represents the tech wisdom of our school for the event, witnesses Olympic moments, and cheers for China's glory.
