On December 28th, the discipline result was published by China Academic Degrees Graduate Education Development Center. There are, not including Military Science and other 16 first level disciplines, 95 first level disciplines involved in the 4th Round of National Discipline Ranking where 7,449 disciplines from 513 colleges and institutes were assessed.
The method of classification was utilized for the first time at the 4th Round of National Discipline Ranking to publish the discipline ranking result. Based on the principle of accurate calculation and classified presentation and according to the ordered percentages of the scores for overall level, 70% disciplines are classified as 9 levels and the top 2% or the top two can be ranked as A+ level.
The ranking result of School of Transportation is the most exclusive A+ level and tied for first nationally in Traffic and Transportation Engineering Discipline, which is also another success after the 3rd first level Discipline ranking result that School of Transportation was ranked as No.1 nationally in Traffic and Transportation Engineering Discipline.
Discipline ranking is the overall level assessment for the first level disciplines accredited to award master's and doctoral degrees according to Degree Awarding and Personnel Training Subject Catalogue published by Degree Center of Ministry of Education in the obedience of Chinese Ministry of Education and the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. Besides, discipline ranking is conducted by one third party making it non-administrative, servicing assessment item and different from those qualified evaluations conducted by government. Discipline Ranking started from 2002 and was conducted quadrennially. This year 2017 is the 4th round. At the last three national discipline ranking, School of Transportation was ranked as No.5, No.2 and No.1 respectively.
