From November 7 to 10, professor Joseph E.Hummer, chief engineer of Traffic Management in Department of Transportation of North Carolina State (NCDOT) was invited by our school for an academic visit.
In the afternoon of November 7, Professor Hummer participated in the group meeting including Professor Cheng Jianchuan, Professor Chen Fei and Associate Professor Yu Bin. Professor Hummer listened carefully to research reports delivered by five students and threw out some suggestions targeting to further research of those reports during the group meeting.
On November 8, 2017, Professor Hummer delivered two academic reports in the Latest Research Approach and the Performance of Unconventional Intersections and Interchanges in the USA and Major Efforts in the NC State to Improve Highway Safety, both of which were held successfully in Sipailou Campus and Jiulonghu Campus.
In the morning, November 9, Professor Hummer presented a career talk themed by My Career Selection and Pursuit-from University Professor to State Management Engineer, where Professor Hummer combined his extensive work experience in universities and industry administration.
Professor Joseph Hummer is an old friend of Southeast University. Several visits were paid by him to conduct fruitful teaching and academic exchange after teaching communication of teachers and students from North Carolina State University to Southeast University in 2009. Vice president Wu Gang met Professor Hummer as an old friend, expressed warm welcome and sincere thanks and looked forward to further cooperation between Southeast University and Professor Hummer in the new position.
